Why does Easter change date every year?
Easter Sunday is calculated as the first Sunday following the first full moon on or after the March equinox. This means it can fall on any date between 22nd March and 25th April. Our tool uses the official Gregorian algorithm to calculate Easter’s date for any year.
Is Easter on the same date everywhere?
Western (Catholic and Protestant) churches celebrate Easter on the same date worldwide, which is what this tool calculates. Eastern Orthodox churches often observe Easter on a different date because they use the Julian calendar for the calculation.
