Printable No Soliciting Signs

No Soliciting Signs

Nobody wakes up hoping a stranger rings the doorbell mid-dinner to pitch new windows, a new religion, or a “free” roof inspection. If you’re tired of pretending you didn’t hear the bell, a solicitation sign does the talking for you before anyone even knocks. I made these printable No Soliciting signs for exactly that reason, so you don’t have to have the same awkward conversation on your porch every week.

A few weeks back I had a particularly persistent one show up. I said we weren’t interested, she asked why, and then told me she’d “just come back later.” I didn’t ask her to come back. I didn’t ask her to come the first time either. That’s exactly the moment a sign earns its spot by the door, it says everything you don’t feel like repeating out loud.

I know most of these folks are just doing their job, and nobody gets into sales thinking people will love slamming the door in their face. So to make it easier on everyone, I put together 30 different No Soliciting sign designs, some plain and official looking, some genuinely funny, so you can pick whatever tone actually fits your front door.

If you’re stocking up on signage for a rental, business, or property you manage, check out our Out Of Order Signs too. Same idea, just for equipment instead of doorbells.

How To Download These Printable No Soliciting Signs

Grab any of the 30 designs below by clicking on the style you like. Each one opens as a PDF right in your browser, no email address, no account, no waiting on a link to land in your inbox. From there you can save it to your phone or laptop, or just print straight from the tab that opened.

Every sign here is free for personal use, and you can print as many copies as you need, for your front door, garage, mailbox, gate, or a friend’s porch if they ask nicely.

One tip worth following: if you’re printing one of the colored designs, especially the red stop-sign style ones, use matte photo paper instead of regular printer paper. It holds the color better and won’t look streaky or washed out once it’s taped up somewhere that gets a bit of sun through a window.

Straightforward No Soliciting Signs

These 22 designs are the ones to grab if you want something that reads as official as possible from the sidewalk. Plain black and white, red stop-sign style, or a bold yellow warning, there’s a version here for every kind of door. Click any design to open the printable PDF.

Where To Hang Your No Soliciting Sign (And How To Make It Last)

Eye level near the doorbell or door handle is the spot that actually gets read. A sign taped low on the door or hidden behind a screen doesn’t do much good if nobody looks down before knocking.

If it’s going somewhere protected, inside a storm door, behind glass, or under a porch roof, regular printer paper and a bit of tape will hold up fine for weeks. If it’s going somewhere exposed to rain or direct sun, laminate it or slide it into a cheap plastic sign frame so it doesn’t fade or curl within a month.

For a gated community, business entrance, or mailbox post, a slightly larger sign mounted on stiff cardstock or foam board reads better from a distance than a sheet of paper taped to a door.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a No Soliciting sign actually enforceable?

In a lot of cities, yes, a posted sign carries some weight under local peddler and solicitor ordinances, and continuing to knock after seeing one can technically count as trespassing in some areas. Enforcement varies a lot from city to city though, so check your local municipal code if you want something with real teeth behind it.

Does a No Soliciting sign stop religious or political canvassers?

Not always. Many local ordinances that regulate solicitors specifically exempt religious groups, political canvassers, and charities collecting donations, since courts have generally protected that kind of speech. A sign still signals you’d rather not be bothered, even if it isn’t legally binding on every visitor.

What size should I print my No Soliciting sign?

A standard 8.5×11 sheet works fine taped inside a storm door or window where it’s out of the weather. For a mailbox post, gate, or business entrance, print it a bit larger or mount it on stiff cardstock or a frame so it holds up outside and reads from further away.

Can I edit the text on these signs?

These PDFs are ready to print as-is and aren’t editable. If you need to add a business name, hours, or a specific rule, recreating a similar layout in a free tool like Canva, using one of these as a style reference, is your best bet.

Will a funny sign actually stop solicitors?

It won’t stop the most determined ones, but a lighthearted sign tends to get read all the way through instead of ignored, which is more than you can say for a plain warning. It also makes for a friendlier doorstep interaction than a flat out no.

If you’re setting up signage for more than just your front door, check out our Out Of Order Signs for equipment and machines, or our Sign In Sheets if you’d rather track visitors at a business entrance instead of turning them all away. Real estate agents showing a property might also want our Open House Sign In Sheets for the buyers they actually want walking through the door.

Pick whichever design fits your porch, tape it up, and get back to your dinner.
